HarperCollins has snapped up an "utterly fascinating, twisty tale" debut crime novel from Ashley Flowers, host of the popular true crime podcast "Crime Junkie".
Phoebe Morgan, editorial director, bought UK and Commonwealth rights to All Good People Here from Meredith Miller at United Talent Agency. It will publish in August 2022.
All Good People Here tells the story of Margot Davies, an aspiring investigative journalist stuck in a rudderless job at a small-time newspaper, until one night she stumbles on a new development in an unsolved, decades-old case that took place in her very own hometown: the infamous murder of six-year-old January Jacobs, her one-time next door neighbour.
Flowers said: "Being a Crime Junkie, for me, is more than just living in the true-crime space. Since childhood, I've loved diving into a great fiction thriller. And as an adult, escaping into a fictional mystery has been my outlet. I've taken everything I've learned about a good mystery and incorporated it into this book so that each page will fill the reader's appetite for an unsettling yet thrilling mystery."
Morgan added: "I’ve been a huge 'Crime Junkie' fan for years and so when this manuscript landed on my desk, I jumped at the chance to bring Ashley’s writing to a UK market. This is Sharp Objects meets I’ll Be Gone In The Dark and Ashley has created an utterly fascinating, twisty tale that true crime lovers will absolutely adore."
"Crime Junkie" first aired in 2017 and has more than 34 million monthly listens and 10 million unique listeners each month, according to HarperCollins.
