HarperCollins has snapped up two more novels from Divorced (Not Dead) and Hot (Not Bothered) author Harper Ford. Senior commissioning editor Rachel Hart at Avon Books acquired world English rights from Laura Macdougall at United Agents. The first novel is entitled Live Laugh (Leave Me Alone) and will be published later this year. The second in the new contract will follow in 2026.
The first novel follows "50, frazzled and fed up" Lucy, who is gearing up for a well-earned promotion after her boss announces his retirement. She is thwarted by Tara, "her annoyingly perfect colleague", who "swoops in, dazzling the CEO with her #BossBabe energy and commitment to a wellness bootcamp so hardcore it sounds like a cult".
The synopsis continues: "Desperate to compete, Lucy lies about joining the same programme – even though her body feels more landfill than temple. As the wellness madness escalates and rivalries flare, Lucy starts to wonder if she actually might be growing as a person – or if that’s just the kombucha talking? And why can’t she shake the feeling that maybe Tara isn’t as perfect as she seems?"

Hart said: "Harper’s hilarious coming-of-middle-age stories are taboo-busting and highly relatable – each one feels like hanging out with a best friend. After exploring divorce and menopause with her first two books, I can’t wait for Harper to eviscerate the wellness industrial complex with her trademark humour and flair in Live Laugh (Leave Me Alone)!"
Ford said: ‘’I’m thrilled to be working with Avon on two more contemporary comedy novels. The team are the best advocates I could have for the Harper Ford brand. We fully intend to bust more taboos and kick more ass."
