HarperCollins has picked up two books from “utterly hilarious” self-published star Tracy Bloom.
Editorial director Kate Bradley acquired world English language rights from Madeleine Milburn at the Madeleine Milburn Literary, TV and Film Agency. HarperCollins will publish the first book in the deal, The Wife Who Got a Life, in paperback, e-book and audio in spring 2021
Bloom is a number one Kindle bestseller whose self-published titles include No-One Ever Has Sex on a Thursday and Single Woman Seeks Revenge.
Bradley said: “I’m beside myself with excitement to be publishing Tracy, I’ve admired her for such a long time and HarperCollins is the perfect place for her uplifting, heartwarming and utterly hilarious writing. The Wife Who Got a Life perfectly captures the joyous chaos of family life, it’s like having a belly laugh with your best mate over a G&T and Tracy’s heroines provide the perfect antidote to life’s unavoidable daily dramas! I couldn’t be more thrilled to be embarking on the next stage of Tracy’s career with her – this will be a step change in her publishing and it’s a dream come true.”
Bloom said: “I have loved and laughed whilst writing The Wife Who Got a Life and so I am absolutely delighted that it has found a home at HarperCollins where other people love it and laugh at it also! Kate bonded with it immediately and so I'm very excited to work with her and the rest of the team to get this novel out into the world and into the hands of readers who will hopefully enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.”
