HarperNonFiction has been bowled over by cricketing legend Phil Tufnell, acquiring world all language rights to his new book The Tourist.
Adam Humphrey, publisher, negotiated the deal with Mike Martin at MGT Management and The Tourist will be published on 26th October 2023 in hardback, e-book and audiobook.
The synopsis reads: “As a cricketer, broadcaster and celebrity jungle-dweller, Phil Tufnell has travelled the world far and wide. From the great cricket tours of Australia and South Africa to the equally memorable local club jaunts to Blackpool, Phil has spent much of his life living out of his suitcase, meeting a host of colourful and memorable characters along the way. Part memoir, part travelogue and always hilarious, The Tourist shares what really happens on the road, in the dressing room and behind the scenes of the commentary box, with Phil’s trademark humour and true zest for adventure.”
Tufnell said: “I am delighted to have teamed up with Adam and the HarperCollins team for The Tourist! I have enjoyed a lovely look back at my many travelling exploits, whether with England on tour, with fellow celebrities in the jungle, or on one of my many other trips around the world and I can’t wait to share these with you…I think I have managed to remember most (if not all!) of them! Happy days.”
Humphrey added: “What goes on tour has always stayed on tour…until now. I’m absolutely delighted to be working with Phil on his new book, following the behind-the-scenes mischief and mayhem of life on tour as a cricketer, broadcaster and keen adventurer. Brimming with Tuffers’ trademark sparkling wit and warmth, I know it will appeal to cricket and travel fans alike. So pack your kit, put on some suntan lotion – and don’t forget your passport and toothbrush. It’s time to take a memorable trip across the world with one of our most treasured sports personalities.”
