HarperNonFiction has acquired Harry Styles: The Making of a Modern Man by celebrity biographer Sean Smith.
The deal for world all language rights was negotiated with Gordon Wise at Curtis Brown and the biography will be published on 11th November 2021.
The synopsis reads: "In Harry Styles: The Making of a Modern Man, Sean Smith tells the extraordinary story of a modern cultural icon: from auditioning on the UK’s 'X Factor' at the age of 16 to taking the world by storm as one fifth of One Direction, to launching a strikingly successful solo career and performing in prestigious events across the world. But Harry isn’t just a music powerhouse; from the get-go, it was clear that he possessed more than good looks and a fabulous voice. His charm, charisma, and ability to light up any room has led him to a blossoming movie career and recognition in the world of fashion, pushing boundaries with his inimitable choices and becoming the first man to appear solo on the cover of Vogue.
"Brilliantly researched and entertainingly told, Harry Styles: The Making of a Modern Man will chronicle Harry’s incredible life so far, revealing how a young man from a small English village became the global superstar he is today."
Smith said: "I believe Harry Styles is an important and endlessly fascinating figure in modern popular culture. He should not be underestimated just because he started out as a teenager on the 'X Factor'. His popularity and influence have grown year by year – and not just in music. This is the serious book he deserves but there’s a lot of fun to be had on the journey. I can’t wait to see what he is going to do next – and what he’s going to wear!"
The publisher commented: "We’re absolutely delighted to be publishing Sean’s biography of Harry Styles. It is hugely well researched, characteristically entertaining and offers a unique insight into Harry’s journey to date. It’s a wonderful celebratory account of one of the most iconic musicians of our time."
Smith is the author of several celebrity biographies including Cheryl (S&S), Kate (S&S) and Tom Jones — The Life (HarperCollins).
