HarperNonFiction has acquired the first book and memoir from S Club 7 singer Rachel Stevens.
Imogen Gordon Clark, editor, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada, to Finding My Voice: A Story of Strength, Self-Belief and S Club 7 from Benji Rom at Rom Com Entertainment. The book will be published in hardback, e-book and audiobook on 25th April 2023.
The synopsis says: “Whether as part of the award-winning pop group S Club 7 or as a successful solo artist, Rachel Stevens was in the eye of the ’00s pop storm. Catapulted to fame at 18, her life took a whole new direction, and the whirlwind began.
“Constantly stereotyped and controlled within the industry, she has privately dealt with the damage done to her self-worth and mental health, and has since gone on a journey of personal growth. Following a personal break-up and an S Club reunion – and having found her confidence and voice – Rachel is ready to be completely open and honest for the very first time.”
Stevens said: “Despite spending my whole adult life under the spotlight, there’s so much the public don’t know about me. I’ve never had the confidence to share my story before now, but my book is the perfect opportunity to fully open up about the realities of fame. I’m proud to share it with the world.”
Gordon Clark added: “Like so many others, I grew up idolising Rachel Stevens, so I’m very happy to be publishing this book, especially at such an exciting time for S Club. I can’t wait for readers to relive that iconic era in pop history, and also discover the real Rachel behind the superstar.”
