HarperNonFiction will publish Happily Imperfect about facing "unrealistic societal pressures and unfair labels", by TV personality, singer and presenter Stacey Solomon.
Editorial director Carolyn Thorne negotiated the deal for world rights all languages from Angharad Marsh at Crown Talent Agency. Happily Imperfect: Loving life your own way will be published on 7th March 2019.
Imperfection, the synopsis reads, is what makes us unique, and yet the everyday pressures to look and be perfect are greater than ever. Having been subjected to intense media attention and scrutiny from the moment she stepped into the limelight in 2009, Solomon knows better than most what it’s like to be at the receiving end of unrealistic societal pressures and unfair labels, the publisher said.
In Happily Imperfect, Solomon explores parenthood, mental health and body positivity, “told through hilarious, moving, and always charming anecdotes” helping readers "discover how to get the best out of life by being positive, trusting your gut instincts and embracing the imperfect".
Solomon, who became famous after appearing on "The X Factor" in 2009, said: "I was so excited when HarperCollins approached me to write Happily Imperfect – the time is just right for me to highlight the everyday pressure on us to be and look perfect. If I can help in some small way to open up discussions and make us all a feel a little bit better about ourselves then I will have achieved my goal."
Thorne says: "Stacey is renowned and loved for her refreshing candour on everyday issues, social, domestic and intimate. Her relatable and humorous voice allows her to speak out on sensitive subjects as wide-ranging as anxiety, getting older, life after having kids and navigating the challenges of the modern world."
