HarperNonFiction has signed Letters to My Younger Queer Self, a "heartfelt" collection of letters from members of the queer community edited by Daniel Harding.
Senior commissioning editor Anna Mrowiec acquired world all language rights from Andrew James at Frog Literary. Harriet Prideaux, commissioning editor, will oversee publication for 8th May 2025.
The book covers "the wide and beautiful queer spectrum to create an inspiring resource for anyone who has ever struggled with growing up different" with letters from queer people in music, television, theatre and politics.
Harding commented: “I’m beyond excited to be featuring incredible and important voices, both inside and outside the community, for a collection of life-changing letters, addressed to our own letters within the acronym. I could not think of a better home for this than the safe hands of HarperCollins, and I’m excited to share this anthology with the world. Because, when life gives you letters, you really can build a stronger community.”
Prideaux added: “I am thrilled to be working with Daniel on this unique project. It’s no secret that books can carry us through all of life’s difficulties but facing the challenge of ‘growing up different’, as Daniel puts it, requires a particular dose of reassurance and understanding from those who have gone through it. Daniel’s generosity in helping anybody experiencing such difficulties extends to the fantastic array of contributors who have agreed to share their personal reflections and wisdom. Letters to My Younger Queer Self will be a celebration of self-acceptance and a source of constant, quiet encouragement for anybody navigating a tricky time.”
