HarperNonFiction has snapped up a “hilarious” debut book from model and social media star Louise Boyce.
Katya Shipster, publishing director, acquired world all language rights to Mama Still Got It from Angharad Marsh at Milk Management. It will publish on 2nd March 2023.
With 340,000 followers on TikTok and 260,000 on Instagram, mum-of-three Boyce is fast becoming one of the biggest parenting stars on social media, the publisher said.
Boyce will take readers on a journey through the "real" parenting calendar. Starting in September, when parents send their kids off to school full of wide-eyed optimism, she will chart the parenting milestones to look out for: the first day of school photo, being late for pick-up, joining the dreaded class WhatsApp groups, the agony of Sports Day parents’ races, and many more.
Boyce said: “I’m absolutely delighted (and slightly nervous) that HarperCollins has asked me to write a book. If you’ve ever winced as your child says the fateful words ‘mummy, mummy, watch…’, or seen them run giggling out of a room that looks like it’s been struck by a Level 3 hurricane, then this is the book for you. Hopefully it’ll make you feel ‘normal’ on your parenting journey, and become a go-to read to ease the daily tensions we endure as parents and carers. Because, as we all know, laughter is the best medicine. Unless you can get Calpol. Calpol is by far the best medicine.”
Shipster added: “I’ve been a huge fan of Louise’s for ages, and am delighted she agreed to commit her unique perspective to the page for HarperCollins in her trademark laugh-out-loud style. Her sketches have the absurdity and wit of ’Smack the Pony’, crossed with the caustic worldview of ’Motherland’, so for anyone (like me) who plays her reels on repeat, desperate for even more, this book is the perfect way to spend even more time with Louise’s unique voice.”
