HarperNorth has acquired Kindling, a "spicy autumnal woodcutting romance" by Bonnie Woods.
Commissioning editor Daisy Watt bought world all-language rights from Clare Coombes at the Liverpool Literary Agency, and the book will be published on 29th August 2024 in paperback and e-book, with an audiobook edition to follow on 12th September 2024. Harper360 will co-publish in the US.
The synopsis states: "Kindling is a grumpy-meets-sunshine romance with forced proximity and a HEA [happily ever after] ending, set in the Scottish Highlands. Sparks fly when city girl Harper meets local woodsman Fraser, whose skills at chopping firewood have her falling faster than an autumn leaf."
Under the pen name Rachel Bowdler, Woods has written Honeymoon for One (Embla) and Summer at the Scottish Castle (Embla).
Watt said: "Kindling is very sweet and very hot, perfect for pumpkin spice season. I can’t wait for readers to fall for Kindling’s inclusive cast of characters, discover the singular allure of a gruff Scottish woodsman and react to that steamy loch scene!"
Woods added: "I’m ecstatic to be given the opportunity to write an inclusive laugh-out-loud romance that will allow its readers to escape to autumnal Scotland with a lovable northern main character and charming love interest."
