HarperVia has swooped for Sweet Sweet Revenge Ltd, the fifth novel from Jonas Jonasson and his first with the imprint.
Editorial director Anna Kelly acquired world English rights for the novel from Erik Larsson at Partners in Stories, for publication in April 2021.
Jonasson is the bestselling author of The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared (Abacus), which sold almost 538,000 paperback copies in the UK through Nielsen BookScan. In total he has sold 1.01 million copies for £7.13m in the UK.
His latest book is billed as an escapist adventure about a successful advertising man who sets up a business specialising in revenge. The publisher said: “Jonas Jonasson explores questions about art, morality, ownership, colonialism and much more, on a journey that takes place in Africa, North America, Central Europe and the UK, and introduces the reader to a varied cast of characters, including the pope and a goat called Molly.
Kelly commented: “Following on from the success of The Accidental Further Adventures of the Hundred-Year-Old-Man, Jonas Jonasson is back with another freewheeling adventure that takes a hard look at humanity but also makes us laugh. This has all the charm his fans love and we are excited about publishing Jonas Jonasson under the HarperVia imprint for the first time.”
