Studio Press - the newest imprint under Kings Road Publishing, a division of Bonnier Publishing - is to develop a new Harry Potter Colouring Book range, following on the success of the bestselling Harry Potter Colouring Book.
Officially licensed from Warner Bros. Consumer Products, the range will include two colouring books, along withother formats and exclusives to the market.
The second book in the series, Harry Potter: Magical Creatures Colouring Book, will be released on 28th January. The publisher intends to "build on the momentum of the first book and to coincide with the excitement around Harry Potter Book Night on 4th February."
"Filled with detailed illustrations of the creatures from the films, the book will provide hours of fun with characters to design and colour, from the ghostly blue merpeople to fiery red Fawkes the phoenix," the publisher said. "The title is being described as the perfect gift for fans ahead of the upcoming and highly anticipated film series based on J. K. Rowling’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them."
Studio Press will then publish a further colouring book Harry Potter Magical Places and Characters in July to coincide with the upcoming two-part West End stage play, "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child". The book will be published in a similar style using artwork from the Warner Bros. archive to give fans the chance to colour in the props, artifacts, magical settings and characters from the wizarding world.
Studio Press will also be publishing the first book in different formats as a postcard book and colouring book alongside Magical Places and Characters for the summer colouring market.
The deal was brokered by Gemma Cooper, managing editor of Studio Press and Helen Wicks, creative director of King’s Road Publishing with Alex Mitchell, international sales manager of Insight Editions.
Wicks said: “After the huge success of the Harry Potter Colouring Book we’re thrilled to be publishing more titles in the range. Pre-orders for the first book were exceptional in the UK and we are looking forward to the publication of the rest of this wonderful range in the New Year.”
The first official Harry Potter Colouring Book was also released by Studio Press, on 5th November 2015 .
