Harvill Secker has acquired an “unsettling” collection of “anti-Valentine” short stories by Kirsty Logan entitled No & Other Love Stories.
Publishing director Liz Foley acquired world English-language rights from Cathryn Summerhayes at Curtis Brown, with publication set for February 2025.
The short stories span a range of historical time frames, from a medieval convent to a Victorian parlour to a 1990s high school.
Foley said: “Kirsty takes us to some deliciously dark places with her electrifying storytelling. Confronting, invigorating and always captivating, the stories in this collection brilliantly show off her unique voice and imagination.”
Logan said: “Short stories are in my blood and bones, and I love that I get to keep returning to them. I adored every second of writing No. I let my imagination go to the darkest, strangest, lushest, bloodiest depths. Everything that I never dared to say before is in this book.”
Logan is the author of three novels, three short story collections, a memoir, two chapbooks and a 10-hour audio play for Audible. Her books have won the Lambda, Polari, Saboteur, Scott and Gavin Wallace awards. She lives in Glasgow with her wife, baby and rescue dog.
