Harvill Secker has landed two thrillers from Ajay Chowdhury in his detective Kamil Rahman series.
Deputy publishing director Katie Ellis-Brown acquired world rights from Laetitia Rutherford at Watson, Little.
The first book in the deal, The Crusader, will be published in April 2026. The second book in the deal, and the seventh instalment in the series, will following in spring 2027.
Chowdhury’s series follows Kamil Rahman who moves to east London after losing his job as a detective in Kolkata. He is joined by his friend Anjoli, a high-minded psychologist.
Chowdhury said: "It’s exciting to bring Kamil back to the East End, where he’ll face a unique criminal gang whose crimes play out in the public eye while Anjoli has to juggle her detective agency with her restaurant."
Ellis-Brown added: "I am delighted to be publishing a further two books in this beloved series and my dream is to find more and more readers who will fall in love with Kamil and Anjoli the way so many dedicated fans already have. I learn so much working with Ajay and I can’t wait to see what else he’ll teach me."
