HarperNonFiction will publish Mind Over Clutter by former investment banker turned-professional "declutterer”, Nicola Lewis.
World all-language rights were bought from Lewis directly by HarperNonFiction editorial director Carolyn Thorne. Mind Over Clutter will be published on 14th March 2019.
Lewis is the creator of This Girl Can Organise (TGCO), “a bespoke and personal streamlining service for busy people and homes”, HarperCollins said.
“In 2017 after being made redundant from her high-pressure job as an investment banker in the city, Nicola decided to follow her passion and set up her own decluttering business, sharing her tips and tricks on her hugely popular Instagram account. Nicola knows exactly what it’s like to juggle a busy job, family and home. So, with TGCO she saw an opportunity to use the skills she’d acquired to help others create an organised home and mind in a time realistic, affordable and sustainable way.”
The organisation now has more than 74 million Instagram followers. Mind Over Clutter is “the ultimate guide to decluttering your home in a fun, sustainable and meaningful way,” the publisher said, with Lewis “arming readers with the tools they need to clean and clear their homes” in her first book.
“With a step-by-step, room-by-room plan to get rid of clutter, recipes for natural, eco-friendly cleaning products and tips on upcycling your household items, housework and organising have never been this easy or this fun.”
Lewis said: “Words cannot describe how ecstatic and excited I was when HarperCollins approached me last autumn to publish my very own book.
“My ultimate goal was to be happy doing a job that I love, helping others who find this task overwhelming or are just too busy to juggle modern day life to have time to declutter and get straight. This book has an array of decluttering hints and tips for the home, DIY eco cleaning recipes, upcycling ideas in the home and lots more.”
Thorne said that Lewis “brings a practical and fun approach to decluttering our homes and our lives. Her book taps into many of the current trends including cleaning up in an eco-friendly way and boosting our mental well-being whilst doing so”.
