Hachette Children’s Group (HCG) is developing a range of books based on "Top Class", the TV quiz show for children, in partnership with ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVS GE).
"Top Class" is produced by ITV Studios for CBBC and reached viewing figures of 3.4 million in 2017. Posed by comedian and presenter Susan Calman, the questions are linked to Key Stage 2 of the national curriculum and topics include English, maths, science, history, geography and news.
HCG will publish a range of Top Class titles from July onwards, starting with Top Class Quiz Book, Top Tips to be Top Class and subject specific quiz books.
Hilary Murray Hill, c.e.o. of HCG, added: “'Top Class' has proved itself a popular and enduring show, continuing to attract TV viewers and soon readers too. It both entertains and educates, and we are looking forward to working with ITV Studios to achieve the same mix in our programme of books.”
Steve Green, executive v.p. of kids content and distribution at ITVS GE, said: “'Top Class' has established itself as ‘appointment-to-view’ TV which is becoming rarer and rarer in the kids’ space now. The longevity of the series is testament to the quality of the show and its ongoing popularity amongst the target audience. We are delighted to be working with Hachette as we know that such a prestigious publisher will bring that same standard of quality to the publishing range.”
