Hodder Children’s Books has signed comedy writer and DJ Danny Baker.
Baker has written his first children’s picture book text, Lucie Goose, about a friendly goose who lives all alone in a house at the edge of the woods.
Hodder picture book editor Emma Layfield acquired world rights in a two-book deal from Alex Armitage at The Noel Gay Organisation. The text will be illustrated by Pippa Curnick, who was signed via a deal with Claire Cartey at Holroyde Cartey.
Layfield said: “I am delighted to welcome such a gifted writer to the Hodder Children’s Books list and to launch Danny Baker’s career in children’s books. Lucie Goose is a wonderful book with Danny’s trademark wit and warmth. I am also incredibly pleased to sign rising star Pippa Curnick, whose bright, engaging style suits the text perfectly.
Publication is set for autumn 2017.
Baker is a writer, journalist, radio DJ and screenwriter and presents "The Danny Baker Show" on BBC Radio 5. He is currently taking part in ITV’s I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here.
