Head of Zeus has acquired the next two novels in Martin Edwards' Rachel Savernake series, Darkstone Falls and Sepulchre Street.
The series is set in 1930s Bloomsbury and follows Rachel Savernake, the wealthy daughter of a judge, and Jacob Flint, a naive journalist. Together they solve the murders that Scotland Yard cannot. Head of Zeus published the first two books in the series, Gallows Court and Mortmain Hall, in 2018 and 2020 respectively.
Publishing director for fiction Laura Palmer acquired world English language rights for the third and fourth titles from James Wills at Watson, Little.
Palmer said: "These books are quite simply, superb: Golden Age mysteries full of period detail and witty dialogue, but with a modern sensibility and packed with twists. There’s a reason Martin Edwards was awarded the Diamond Dagger, and we are very proud to publish him."
Edwards commented: "The enthusiasm that Head of Zeus have shown for the Rachel Savernake stories is hugely motivating. I’m excited about the potential of the series and thrilled to be working with publishers who share my enjoyment of 'Golden Age Gothic'."
