Headline Accent has acquired two novels from Natalie Chandler, including Believe Me Not, a "truly chilling" debut thriller about a woman who is told her newborn baby never existed.
Katie Sunley, assistant editor, bought world English language rights for two books from Liza DeBlock at Mushens Entertainment in DeBlock's first deal for the agency. Believe Me Not will be published in March 2022.
The synopsis reads: "When new mum Megan wakes up in the hospital after giving birth, she cannot find her baby. Frantic and confused, Megan is told she has never had a child and she is not in the hospital – she is in a mental institution. Convinced that everyone around her is lying, Megan is determined to discover the truth, even if it means confronting dark secrets from her past."
Sunley said: "I’m absolutely delighted to bring Natalie’s deft and gripping psychological thrillers to Headline Accent. With a truly chilling premise and complex characters you can't get out of your head, Believe Me Not had me hooked from the very first page. I’m hugely excited to be working with Natalie and can't wait for readers to discover her brilliant debut in March 2022."
Chandler added: "It has been a lifelong ambition to become a published author and I am thrilled Believe Me Not has found a home with Headline Accent. Katie’s energy and passion for the book, as well as the unwavering support of my agent, Liza, has already made this an unforgettable experience and I am hugely excited for the next chapter of this new journey. I feel very fortunate to have been given such an opportunity."
