Headline has acquired No One Wants To See Your D*ck: A Handbook for Survival in the Digital World, a new first-hand investigation by Jess Davies.
Bianca Bexton, senior commissioning editor, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Ben Dunn at DunnFogg on behalf of Encanta Talent Management in a three-way auction, with publication scheduled for May 2025 in hardback.
Written by women’s rights campaigner and TV and radio presenter Jess Davies, No One Wants To See Your D*ck looks at the rise of masculinity influencers, the popularity of misogynistic content and the lack of social media regulation. It will also “help readers to question society’s understanding — or lack of — when it comes to consent, as the epidemic of male violence towards women and young girls reaches terrifying new heights through new and expanding technologies".
The book follows Davies’ previous projects including the documentary “Deepfake Porn: Could You Be Next?” which was used to lobby the UK government to criminalise deepfake porn, alongside her current affairs documentaries investigating the "manosphere" for BBC Three, BBC Wales and S4C.
Davies said: “I’m beyond excited to bring this book to life with Headline and put the power back into the hands of women through lessons, tips and helpful advice on how to navigate the disturbing world of digital misogyny. This will be a handbook that rattles the edges of the manosphere, turning everyday women into internet sleuths and disturbing the normalisation of what it means to be a woman online today.”
Bexton added: “Jess’ book is a vital contribution to this issue, empowering readers with the information and tools to tackle it head on. I am thrilled to be welcoming Jess to Headline and can’t wait to start working with her.”
