Headline Home has bought a book on the “orgasm gap” from psychosexologist Dr Karen Gurney.
Senior commissioning editor Anna Steadman acquired world rights from Julia Silk at Kingsford Campbell. Mind The Gap: The Truth About Desire, and How To Futureproof Your Sex Life will be published in trade paperback, e-book and audio edition in March 2020.
Its synopsis explains: “Written by a clinical psychologist and certified psychosexologist, this book unpicks not just the orgasm gap (which stands at around 30% between heterosexual couples), but the gaps in our knowledge of so much of the most important new science around sex and desire. Combining science with fresh perspectives designed to turn everything you thought you knew about desire on its head, along with case studies and practical tips, this is a book for anyone who wants to better understand the mechanics of desire and futureproof their sex life, for life."
Steadman said: “This is a book that will make you rethink everything you thought you knew about female sexuality. Everybody needs to read it, and I’m so excited to be working with Karen on bringing her important and empowering message about female desire to a wider audience.”
Gurney added: “I’m thrilled to be working with Anna and the fantastic team at Headline to get the facts about sex and desire out there that I know will make a difference to so many. So much of how we evaluate and ‘run’ our sex lives is based on hearsay and myths rather than sex science, and I have seen first-hand the difference that this kind of perspective can make to people wanting a sex life that can stand the test of time.”
