Headline has acquired No Such Thing as Normal, the publisher's fourth title from Bryony Gordon.
Publishing director Sarah Emsley bought world rights from Nelle Andrew at Rachel Mills Literary. The title will be published in hardback, e-book and audio on 7th January 2021.
In No Such Thing as Normal, the Mental Health Mates founder will offer "sensible, practical advice", covering subjects such as sleep, addiction, worry, medication, self-image, boundary setting, therapy, learned behaviour, mindfulness and the power of walking and talking. She will aim to equip those in need of help with tools and information to get the best out of a system that can be both frightening and overwhelming.
Headline previously published Gordon's The Wrong Knickers (2015), Mad Girl (2016) and Glorious Rock Bottom (2020).
Emsley commented: "Bryony is one of the UK’s most high-profile and trusted mental health campaigners and we are delighted that she has chosen this moment—a point in time when so many of us are focusing on our mental wellness and resilience—to share with us the practical lessons she has learned over a lifetime of dealing with depression, OCD and addiction. We have high hopes that this book will be helping those struggling with their mental health for many years to come."
Gordon said: "Every day I receive messages from people about their struggles to access mental health provision, and about the difficulty they have getting the help they need and, most importantly, deserve. I hope this book will provide a little bit of support to those who need it most, inspiring them to take their problems and turn them into moments of true self-care and activism."
Gordon is also the author of You Got This (Wren & Rook, 2019).
