Headline Publishing Group has snapped up a new book on Open AI and Sam Altman by Ashlee Vance.
Non-fiction publisher Martin Redfern acquired UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada, from Jane Finigan at Lutyens & Rubinstein on behalf of David Patterson at The Stuart Krichevsky Literary Agency. The title and publication date have not been revealed.
Vance has been granted access to Open AI, the company behind Chat GPT, and its c.e.o. Sam Altman, who recently hit the headlines following a boardroom coup. The book will chronicle Open AI’s quest to create Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) that "surpasses human intelligence".
Vance is the author of Elon Musk (Virgin Books). He said, “I consider this the chance of a lifetime to give readers a front-row seat to such a momentous period in history and to bring AI and the people shaping it to the page in vivid detail.”
Redfern added: “Over the coming years AI will transform all our lives as its true potential is unleashed. I have long thought that the way to dramatise its impact is through the stories of the tech pioneers working at the cutting edge. In 2015 Ashlee Vance introduced Elon Musk to the world in a highly revealing biography. He will do the same for Open AI in a gripping character-driven narrative as the company races to create AGI.”
