Headline Home has signed two new books from the digital health platform Noom, with the first, The Noom Mindset: Learn the Science, Lose the Weight, to publish at the end of 2022.
Senior commissioning editor Anna Steadman succeeded in acquiring UK and Commonwealth rights to the two books in a four-way auction from Nicole Bond at Simon & Schuster US. The Noom Mindset will be followed by an as-yet-untitled second book next year.
Simon Element, the new lifestyle imprint at Atria Books/Simon & Schuster, will publish the books in the US.
The publisher says: “Based on more than a decade of research, innovation and product development, Noom has developed a powerful combination of psychology, technology, and human coaching that empowers people everywhere to create lives that they love. Unlike other weight management programmes, Noom helps people identify the underlying ‘why’ behind unhealthy habits and uses psychology to put individuals back in the driver’s seat of their own health.
“Now, for the first time, The Noom Mindset offers a deeper look at the strategies and tools for navigating personal health that make Noom so effective, in a world that makes it hard to be healthy.”
Noom was founded in 2008 by Saeju Jeong and Artem Petakov and its platform now includes two core programmes: Noom Weight for weight management and Noom Mood for stress management. Its headquarters are in New York City.
C.e.o and co-founder Jeong said: “I truly believe that there is so much we can accomplish at Noom, and the number of lives we can positively impact is our driving force. We’ve learned so much from our Noomers on their journey to better health, and we’re so excited to share the lessons we’ve collected about the power of behaviour change. These two books will be yet another tool to help people live healthier lives.”
Steadman said: “Having long been admirers of Noom and what they do, we are so excited to be welcoming them to the Headline Home list later this year. These books are going to help so many people make positive, lasting changes to their health.”
