Headline has signed the first book from Instagram star, qualified personal trainer and nutrition consultant, blogger, and co-founder of the "#girlgains movement", Zanna van Dijk.
Commissioning editor Rachel Kenny pre-empted world rights to The Balanced Body from Rory Scarfe at Furniss Lawton.
The Balanced Body is “2017’s essential and effective lifestyle handbook, grounded in science”, according to Headline, in which Van Dijk “reveals her formula for a strong, lean body and lasting fitness, health and happiness”.
A book for "busy people with minimal time", in Van Dijk's words, in addition to nutricious recipes, it will also share how to use resistance training to better sculpt your body and to develop a lean and toned physique.
Kenny said: “Fitness is the new clean eating, and Zanna is one of Instagram’s hottest talents in both arenas, with a uniquely down-to-earth and friendly voice, and totally at ease hosting sell-out events or in front of the camera. So much more than a rising star, she is already well on the way to becoming an established authority in the health and wellness space with tens of thousands of fans the world over across Instagram, YouTube and Snapchat, as well as being the face of both the most recent series of Adidas workout videos and the Tommy Hilfiger sports capsule collection, being chosen as one of Women’s Health’s top 5 fitness bloggers, having her own activewear collection and appearing on the front cover of The Sunday Times Style magazine earlier this year."
Van Dijk added: "Too often I see people putting themselves on radical diet and exercise plans that are restrictive, unenjoyable and have short-lived results. Being healthy should be enjoyable and sustainable and I want to show that that you can achieve lasting results and have fun on the journey!”
The Balanced Body will be published as a fully illustrated trade paperback and e-book by Headline on the 29th December 2016, priced £18.99.
