Headline Publishing Group will publish The Queen Bee, the first memoir from Grammy-award winning rapper Lil’ Kim.
In the memoir, the rapper will reveal everything that really went on behind the scenes of her career, much of it for the very first time publicly, said the publisher.
Lil' Kim will discuss growing up in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, and her teenage years spent with the Notorious B.I.G. and her rise as a solo artist. She will also talk about the "darker" moments of her fame: her complicated high-profile relationships, the misogynistic industry she fought to change through sex positivity, the challenging double standards of self-image and beauty in the spotlight, and the act of loyalty that ultimately landed her in prison, Headline said.
Commissioning editor Katie Packer and Hachette Books US jointly acquired world rights to the title from Robert Guinsler of Sterling Lord Literistic Inc. The memoir will be published on 2nd November 2021.
Packer said: "Publishing Lil’ Kim’s debut memoir is a dream come true for me, she was the blueprint for so many artists who are creating music today, and she really deserves to be given her flowers for the music and style she has pioneered. Her life story is every bit as powerful and enrapturing as the woman whose music videos I used to create dances to with my friends."
