Michael J Fox is publishing a new book with Headline, No Time Like the Future: An Optimist Considers Mortality.
Headline publishing director Sarah Emsley acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Gordon Wise at Curtis Brown on behalf of Amanda Urban of ICM Partners for what will be the fourth book from the actor, to be published in November this year.
Fox’s previous memoirs, Lucky Man and Always Looking Up, chronicled how the actor came to terms with being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease at the age of 29, all the while exhibiting his iconic optimism. In No Time Like the Future, according to Headline, he reassesses this outlook, while sharing stories and observations about illness and health, aging, the strength of family and friends, and how our perceptions about time affect the way we approach mortality.
"What’s exciting for me is that this new book is less memoir and more perspective," Fox said. "I consider questions I believe we all have about our lives: who am I? where am I? where am I going? I don’t want to give anything away, but I think I’ve figured it out."
Emsley said: "Michael J Fox is an iconic and inspirational figure and we could not be more delighted to be publishing this important, thoughtful and hugely entertaining book that will enrich the lives of all who read it."
Fox has sold a total of 232,481 books for £1.83m through Nielsen BookScan's UK TCM, with Lucky Man his bestseller at 163,631 copies sold in paperback and 44,274 copies sold in hardback.
