Third Sarah Winman novel to Headline

Headline imprint Tinder Press is publishing a new novel by Sarah Winman in July this year, Tin Man.

The novel, Winman's third, is described as "an unconventional and deeply moving love story between three people".

It was an idea its author had nine years ago but, at the time, she had felt she was "not yet mature enough" to write it. Winman said: "It’s been fascinating for me to see that original idea shapeshift into the book it is now. It’s the story I couldn’t quite let go of."

Associate publisher Leah Woodburn likened it to "an espresso shot of humanity". "This very special book first came into my hands last year, at a time when events in the real world were feeling increasingly confusing and unpredictable, and it was the perfect tonic," she said. "It feels like an espresso shot of humanity, and I think, more than ever, we're going to need stories like this one. We feel very privileged to be publishing it."

Winman's previous two novels are When God was a Rabbit and The Year of Marvellous Ways. 

Tinder Press struck the deal for world rights with Robert Caskie while at PFD, now at Caskie Mushens Ltd, to publish in hardback in July.
