Headline has scooped an official companion book to the forthcoming “Downton Abbey” movie, bringing the world and characters of the fictional country house to life.
Downton Abbey – The Official Film Companion, published at £25 in hardback on 13th September to coincide with the film’s release, features a foreword by creator Julian Fellowes. It also includes photographs from the production, interviews with cast and crew, plus a look into the historical and geographical backdrop of the film.
The movie, produced by Carnival Films, revolves around King George V and Queen Mary making an official visit to Downton in 1927, featuring the return of all the main cast from the final television series alongside some new actors.
Headline said: “The accompanying book is lavishly illustrated with stunning shots from both behind and in front of the camera, which capture some wonderful off-guard moments during filming, as well as the original costume illustrations and historical photographs.”
Publishing director Sarah Emsley acquired world rights from Annabel Merullo at PFD on behalf of Carnival Films and Focus Features.
She said: “'Downton Abbey' is one of the most successful and prestigious dramas the world has ever seen and we couldn’t be more delighted to be continuing our relationship with Carnival Films and to be embarking on a new partnership with Focus Features. Fans around the world have been waiting for this next chapter in the story of ‘Downton Abbey’ and we are thrilled to be able to give them a fascinating glance behind the scenes of a global feature film phenomenon.”

This book will extend the Downton experience for the fans giving them an unparalleled glimpse behind-the-scenes, and provide them with the perfect memento.”
