Headline has acquired the autobiography of Rob Halford, lead vocalist of the Grammy Award-winning heavy metal band Judas Priest.
Publishing director Sarah Emsley acquired Biblical: Rob Halford’s Heavy Metal Scriptures together with Hachette Books as part of a world rights deal from Judas Priest’s manager Jayne Andrews. It is Halford’s second autobiography, following Confess, published by Headline in 2020.
In Biblical, to be published 1st November 2022, Halford runs an expert eye over all facets of hard rock history and the heavy metal world. The publisher hailed the book as “a lively encyclopaedia in which Halford shares his opinions, memories, and anecdotes regarding every element of the rock and roll lifestyle: from tours to tattoos, riffs to riders, and drugs to devil horns".
“Halford envisions Biblical as a holy tome for fans, handed down from on high: catechism and doctrine in the almighty ways of rock,” it said.
Halford said: “After my penitence with Confess, it’s time for me to be Biblical and take our congregation through all the ins and outs and ups and downs of what it takes to make the life of the metal god. So, get comfy in your pew and prepare for the light of revelations.”
Ian Gittins, who co-authored Confess as well as Nikki Sixx’s The Heroin Diaries (MTV Books), will co-author the book.
Emsley commented: “Biblical will be a must read for metal fans across the world. We couldn’t be more excited to once again be bringing Rob Halford’s gospel to his congregation of fans this year.”
