Headline Review publisher Sherise Hobbs has acquired world rights to two novels from Emily Gunnis, in a deal made with literary agent Kate Barker.
The publisher launched the author's career in 2018 with her debut, The Girl in the Letter. It has since been sold in 20 languages, says Headline.
The first title in the new deal, The Midwife’s Secret, will be published in October 2021, with a second untitled novel to follow.
Hobbs said: "We are thrilled to have signed up The Midwife’s Secret, a haunting and heart-wrenching story of two families whose fates become entwined after an innocent midwife is accused of a terrible wrong, and the devastating consequences that echo through the generations. Emily is a natural-born storyteller and I know that her devoted readers around the globe will gulp down this book, as I did."
Gunnis commented: "I’m delighted this new deal means I can continue working with my wonderful editor Sherise Hobbs, and the brilliant team at Headline, and I can’t wait to share The Midwife's Secret with my readers."
