William Collins, an imprint of HarperCollins, has acquired A Good Time to be a Girl: How to Succeed in a Changing World by city c.e.o. Helena Morrissey.
In the book, Morrissey describes her experience of working in the city whilst raising nine children, as well as analysing changing attitudes to women in the workplace.
Arabella Pike, publishing director of William Collins, said: “Helena Morrissey is a role model for all working women. Her book outlines a fundamental shake-up of traditional roles and a new way of working which offers more opportunity for women and greater choice for men. We are delighted to be working with her and believe this book will be an essential handbook for all working people in the years to come.”
Morrissey is chair of Newton and the Investment Association, the UK’s industry trade body whose members manage more than £5 trillion. She is also part of the 30% Club – a body campaigning to achieve at least 30% women on company boards.
She said: “Recent events have left many despondent about the prospects for gender equality but I believe it's an exciting time to be a girl. In the book, I'll be sharing my own career and family experiences and exploring how a more unified approach is developing between men and women, so that we can work together towards a happier and more equitable society.”
William Collins struck the deal for UK and Commonwealth rights with Georgina Capel. Publication date will be announced in due course.
