Hemlock Press has landed the 12th instalment in Jane Casey’s Maeve Kerrigan series and standalone My Friend Maura in a two-book deal.
Publisher Julia Wisdom acquired UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada, from Ariella Feiner at United Agents. The next instalment in Casey’s series will be published in spring 2025 with My Friend Maura, an Irish-set standalone, following in spring 2026.
"I know that I will always have one of my favourite days of the year when a new book in the series arrives in my inbox," said Feiner. "I am also particularly excited about Jane’s new standalone idea, My Friend Maura... [it] feels like the perfect time for her to set a novel in Ireland for the first time and I have no doubt that readers will adore it."
Wisdom said: "We are hugely excited to be continuing with Jane’s remarkable Maeve Kerrigan series, which gets richer and more accomplished with each new book. We are very much looking forward to publishing her standalone, which will be set in rural Ireland. The outline for this is enticing and it looks set to showcase Jane’s skills at writing emotionally rich, highly suspenseful crime novels."
Casey added: "I am so delighted that I will be working with Julia Wisdom and the incredible, dedicated Hemlock team at HarperCollins on two new, exciting books. It’s the fulfilment of a long-held ambition to write my first Irish-set novel, a compelling story of murder, obsession and betrayal that I hope readers will love as much as I do. I’m also thrilled to raise the stakes in my long-running Maeve Kerrigan series with a mystery that changes everything for my characters, as will-they-won’t-they becomes life-and-death."
