Hemlock Press, an imprint of HarperCollins, has snapped up three historical novels from Andrew Taylor. Julia Wisdom, publisher for Hemlock Press, has acquired World English Language rights to the crime novels from Antony Topping at Greene & Heaton. The first of these, Treason, will be published in early 2027.
The publisher explained that in these three novels, Taylor has written around the seismic events of the late 17th and early 18th century. Treason takes place during the Glorious Revolution, while future books will focus on the early Jacobite rebellions, the War of the Spanish Succession and other major events that have not often been touched upon in historical fiction.
Wisdom said: "Andrew has long been regarded as one of the finest writers of historical fiction. He combines historical accuracy with suspense-filled plots and an impeccable recreation of a different era. We are thrilled to be publishing these three novels which will include some of the characters from his hugely successful Ashes of London Restoration series but address a different, highly turbulent, period in English history."
Taylor said: "I’m thrilled that HarperCollins will be publishing my next three historical novels, and I know that I’m in the very best of hands with Hemlock Press and my longstanding editor Julia Wisdom. I can’t wait to explore in fictional terms this pivotal, yet strangely neglected, period."
