Vanity Fair editor Porter moves to Quercus

Henry Porter, thriller writer and UK Editor of Vanity Fair, has moved to Quercus, reuniting the author with his long-standing editor Jane Wood.

Quercus acquired UK and Commonwealth rights in two books from Rebecca Carter at Janklow & Nesbit UK.

Firefly, to be published in hardback in May 2018, is pitched as "a heart-stopping chase thriller", following the hunt across central Europe for a Syrian boy, the guardian of terrifying secrets that many would kill for. 

Porter, who also writes about European power and politics for The Hive website in the US, has written five thrillers, including Brandenburg (W&N), which won the CWA Ian Fleming Steel Dagger, and Empire State (Orion) and The Dying Light (Orion), which were both nominated for the award. 

Wood says: "I've always been a massive fan of Henry Porter's fiction. He does much more than write pulse-pounding thrillers. Some of his work has been scarily prescient. He brings authenticity, soul and a certain moral seriousness to his novels while always telling a cracking yarn. He's the best and we couldn't be happier to welcome him to Quercus."
