Hera has signed a three-book deal for Pam Weaver’s new 1960s-set saga series.
Commissioning editor Jennie Ayres acquired world English-language rights from Megan Carroll at Watson Little. The West End Nannies, the first book in the series, will be published in autumn 2025 in paperback and e-book editions. The second and third book will follow in spring 2026 and autumn 2026, respectively.
Carroll said: "‘Pam is a consummate professional and a brilliant writer—not to mention a complete joy to work with."
The West End Nannies series will follow three girls from different backgrounds at the beginning of the 1960s. The trio become friends during "rigorous residential training under the stern eye of the indomitable Matron" that lasts into their placements in wealthy households in London.
"I am over the moon to welcome Pam Weaver to the Hera list," said Ayres. "She is a stellar name in the saga world, having built a huge and devoted readership, and these books will take a flagship position in our publishing list...The West End Nannies has a strong ’Call the Midwife’ appeal, and is perfect for readers looking for inspiring and emotional family sagas full of Pam’s trademark warmth and relatability."
Weaver added: ‘I am delighted to be given this wonderful opportunity to write for Hera. I have read and enjoyed their books, especially Francesca Capaldi’s Littlehampton sagas in the Beach Hotel [series]. Having been a nursery nurse and later a private nanny, this series is home from home for me, although I have to confess that my characters have a far more exciting life."
