Hodder & Stoughton has announced a publishing collaboration with online media network History hit.
Non-fiction publisher Rupert Lancaster finalised a six-book deal with the online media network History Hit, acquiring British Commonwealth rights from Caspian Dennis at Abner Stein, on behalf of CAA.
As well as the award-winning podcast “Dan Snow’s History Hit”, which has over 1,500 episodes, History Hit has seven other regular podcasts, and an online TV channel with over 500 historical documentaries.
The first title in the deal, History Hit Miscellany of Facts, Figures and Fascinating Finds introduced by historian Snow, will be published in hardback and e-book on 28th September 2023.
Snow said: “History is everything that has ever happened to anyone who has ever lived. It is a bottomless reservoir of all the bonkers, heroic, awful and weird things we eccentric humans have ever done. We can’t help generating extraordinary stories. Most importantly, like all the best stories, they are true. I would rather curl up with the History Hit Miscellany than a work of fiction.”
Lancaster commented: “We’re delighted to be establishing a creative partnership with History Hit. They have already created a gold mine of wonderful content and have a huge reach across all their platforms. Their mission to inform and explain to the widest audience is perfectly aligned with Hodder Non-Fiction’s publishing strategy."
James Carson, managing director of History Hit, said: “Our mission is to make history more accessible in the digital age and we’ve wanted to add History Hit print books and e-books to our portfolio for some time, because we know our audience are book-buyers. It’s very exciting to be taking our brand in this new direction with Hodder, whose heritage and vision dovetails so neatly with ours.”
