Hodder & Stoughton has bought two new novels from author and Red literary editor Sarra Manning.
Publisher Kimberley Atkins acquired world English language rights, including audio, from Rebecca Ritchie at A M Heath. The first book in the new deal will be The Man of Her Dreams, described by the publisher as “a high-concept romantic comedy about a woman whose imaginary boyfriend shows up in real life”.
Manning’s new novel, London, With Love, will be published in May and follows the relationship between two people in London over more than 20 years.
The author is currently the literary editor at Red magazine and has been a journalist for 25 years. As well as being the author of nine adult novels, she has also written more than 15 YA novels and a series of light-hearted romantic comedies under a pseudonym.
Atkins said: "I can’t wait to publish two new novels from Sarra Manning, who is an absolute delight to work with – as a long-time fan, it’s still hard to believe that I have the privilege of being her first reader. Sarra is the author that all your favourite authors love reading: her books bring so much joy and I can’t wait for everyone to become as obsessed as I am with her new characters and stories.”
Manning said: “I’m thrilled to continue working with Kimberley and the dream team at Hodder. And so pleased that I get to keep writing quirky romances at a time when we all desperately need the promise of a happy ever after.”
