Hodder & Stoughton has snapped up the “heart-warming and inspiring” memoir from quizmaster Jay Flynn titled The Quizmaster: From Life on the Streets to a Global Quizzing Sensation.
Publisher Rowena Webb acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Lesley Thorne at Aitken Alexander Associates for publication on 16th May 2024. The memoir will be co-written with Garry Jenkins, who was the ghostwriter of A Street Cat Named Bob (Hodder & Stoughton).
Dubbed “the nation’s favourite quizmaster” after his virtual quiz became an online “sensation” during the Covid pandemic, Flynn tells his “remarkable” story of how he went from from running a weekly quiz in his local pub to hosting Jay’s Virtual Pub Quiz. Quizmaster also recounts the two years Flynn spent homeless in London and his rescue by a homeless charity.
Flynn said: “I’m really grateful for being allowed the opportunity to write this book, to open up in a way that I have never done before and talk about subjects that I’m sure will have an impact on some people. If my story allows just one person to get help, make a change or support someone else in the same way, it has all been worthwhile.”
Webb added: “Jay is a real hero for our times and I’m thrilled to be publishing his incredible story, which I’m sure will move and inspire all those who read it.”
