Hodder bags Borough Market cookbook in eight-way auction

Hodder is publishing The Borough Market Cookbook following a "competitive" eight-way auction. The book will be authored by food writer Ed Smith and feature 120 recipes inspired by a year at the market.

Senior commissioning editor Tamsin English acquired world all language rights from Jon Elek at United Agents.

Borough Market, which marked its 1,000th anniversary in 2014, is one of the largest and oldest food markets in London still trading on its original site and generates 12 million visitors a year.

The book will draw on this "rich culinary heritage", featuring recipes to match its ever-changing fruit, veg, meat, fish, cheese and global produce, complete with beautiful photography shot over the four seasons and paying tribute to the market's traders and artisans. Much of it will be shot on location in Borough.
