Hodder & Stoughton has landed a “brilliantly funny” non-fiction audio project from Laura Jane Williams based on her cult Instagram stories and online columns.
The Life Diet will be published this September in audio and e-book after world rights were acquired by publisher Briony Gowlett from Ella Kahn at Diamond Kahn & Woods Literary Agency.
Hodder explained: “The Life Diet is Laura Jane Williams’ brilliantly funny, painfully honest and inspiringly insightful philosophy of what it means to curate your life in order to fill your time, thoughts and relationships with inspiration, motivation, and love – by getting rid of everything else. The Life Diet will equip listeners with the tools and motivation to make their lives more centred, deeper connected, and more in control.”
Gowlett said: “When we have so many options and so much available to us, we find ourselves overwhelmed with abundance. What Laura has taught me – in a way only she can – is the power of consciously deciding who and what gets access to you out of the wealth of unfiltered input. Laura’s writing career goes from strength to strength and we’re delighted to have more non-fiction from her.”
Williams is a former Red columnist and Grazia’s ex-dating guru. She is the author of two previous non-fiction books Becoming and Ice Cream for Breakfast, both released by Hodder, and her first novel, Our Stop (Avon), was published in June.
She said: “The theme that runs throughout all my work is the encouragement to go all-in on the adventure of your own life. In a modern world that tells us to do more to be more, I'm excited to give my State of the Union Address as a permission slip to anyone who needs it, to enforce boundaries, live on your own terms, and encourage others to confidently do the same.”
Kahn added: “From the start of Laura's writing career, Hodder have instinctively understood and championed her uniquely relatable brand of inspirational advice, and we're so excited to be continuing to explore innovative new ways to share her non-fiction with readers – and listeners – with Briony and the Hodder team.”
