Hodder has acquired the memoir of stand-up comedian and presenter of "The Last Leg" Adam Hills.
Entitled Best Foot Forward, the autobiography telling the story of Hills' life in comedy will publish as a £20 hardback on 23rd July 2018.
Hodder Media publisher Briony Gowlett acquired world rights in a joint acquisition with Hachette Australia from Off The Kerb.
The book, which will be Hills' first, will cover the comedian's early days on the Sydney stand-up scene, to hosting his own radio show in Adelaide, to touring the world and eventually landing on British TV.
Also sharing childhood tales, backstage blunders, and encounters with the "fairly famous", including Whoopi Goldberg and Billy Connolly, Hodder has pitched it as "a lesson in following your heart, being positive, and discovering that what makes you different also makes you unique".
Gowlett said: "The joy of Adam is that he is never nasty, mean-spirited or shocking for effect, but instead it's his gift for taking on subjects that are notoriously hard to tackle – and somehow making them funny – that has endeared him to audiences. We’re delighted to be publishing his first book."
Hills added: "Whenever I’d tell my comedy stories to people, they’d say 'You should write them down in a book'. I’m just so grateful that finally one of those people was a publisher."
