Hodder & Stoughton has scooped a “moving and unforgettable high-concept love story” by Holly Miller in a pre-emptive two-book deal.
Editorial director Kimberley Atkins acquired world rights to The Sight of You and a second novel from Rebecca Ritchie at AM Heath. The Sight of You will be published in hardback 2020 as a lead title on the Hodder list.
“It tells the story of Joel and Callie, two strangers who are perfect for each other,” the synopsis states. “But Joel lives with a secret: since he was seven-years-old, he’s been having dreams about the people he loves – dreams that always come true. And when Joel and Callie’s love story is just beginning, Joel sees a vision of how it is going to end.”
Atkins said: “I raced through The Sight of You in one sitting – it is a devastatingly brilliant portrayal of a relationship, and of how scary it can be to let yourself fall in love. It’s the perfect reading group novel that is heart-breaking, timeless and completely original. I am so excited to work with the hugely talented Holly Miller and to share this book with the world.”
Miller added: “I'm so thrilled to be working with Kimberley and the whole team at Hodder and am honoured to be joining their incredible list. I couldn’t imagine a more perfect home for The Sight of You. I’ve truly been bowled over by the team's enthusiasm and passion for the book.”
Ritchie said the book had reminded her of reading One Day for the first time. She said: “I am so delighted to have united Holly Miller with Kimberley Atkins and the Hodder team who are the perfect publisher to launch her internationally. I can’t wait for readers to discover Holly’s writing and fall for Joel and Callie in the way we all have.”
