Hodder & Stoughton has signed three more psychological thrillers from Sophie Hannah.
Commercial fiction publishing director Phoebe Morgan bought world all-language rights from Peter Straus at RCW Agency, with the first of the three novels to be published in 2026.
In September 2024, she will also release with Hodder & Stoughton The Opposite of Murder, a twisty thriller about a woman who confesses to a murder she has planned, insisting that her reason for doing so is to stop herself from committing the crime.
Hannah said: “I’m so excited to be working on three more books with brilliant Phoebe and the wonderful team at Hodder. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for all of us, and of course for Simon Waterhouse, Charlie Zailer and their colleagues (my Culver Valley series characters) who have been at Hodder since 2006.”
Morgan said: “I am ecstatic to have signed more novels from the extraordinarily talented Sophie Hannah – it’s an honour to work with a writer of such calibre, and her ingenious plots never fail to take my breath away. We are delighted to be continuing our partnership with Sophie and have very ambitious plans for her future publishing here at Hodder & Stoughton. She really is the queen of the unguessable mystery.”
Hannah’s books are international bestsellers and she is published in 51 countries. The latest book in her award-winning Culver Valley series, The Couple at the Table, hit the Sunday Times paperback top 10. In 2013 she won Crime Thriller of the Year Award at the Specsavers National Book Awards and she won the CWA Dagger in the Library Award in 2023.
She has also published five Hercule Poirot novels commissioned by Agatha Christie’s estate published by HarperCollins. As well as writing novels, she is a bestselling, award-winning poet and has been shortlisted for the T S Eliot Prize.
