Hodder & Stoughton has acquired “compendium of good cheer and literary gems” from Dame Joanna Lumley. Tom Perrin, consultant editor at Hodder & Stoughton, has acquired world rights to My Book of Treasures from Anthony Goff at David Higham Associates.
The book is a personal anthology of writings, poetry and wisdom, curated from actress, television presenter, author and campaigner Lumley. The book will be published in hardback, ebook and with an audiobook read by the author in October 2025.
Over the years Lumley has kept private notebooks, filled with her favourite writings, thoughts and quotes and this book will contain some of her many and varied jottings. The collection features the lines of her favourite poets, from Shakespeare to Emily Dickinson, “pearls of wisdom that she has heard or read, and nuggets of trivia and miscellanea that have brought her joy”. The book will be published in time for Christmas 2025.
Lumley said: “My beloved publishers have been swishing the cane behind me as I tried to drag everything I have ever loved into this darling book, meaning it would run into 23 volumes. This is the cream of the crop, and I am thrilled to offer this selection of treasures to the deserving public with all my love.”
Perrin said: “I am thrilled to be working with Joanna again. Her Book of Treasures is a chocolate-box of delights, full of surprise and laughter – and lovingly compiled. Everyone at Hodder is excited to work with Joanna to share this special book with as many readers as possible.”
Hodder will publish My Book of Treasures in hardback, audiobook and ebook on 2nd October 2025. It will be backed with a marketing and publicity campaign, including select events, broadcast and print interviews with Lumley.
