Stephanie Garber is returning to the world of Caraval with two new books for Hodder & Stoughton.
Hodder will publish Once Upon a Broken Heart in September 2021, in hardback and e-book, after publisher Kate Howard bought UK and Commonwealth rights from Molly Ker Hawn at The Bent Agency in a two-book deal.
Set in the same magical world as Caraval, Once Upon a Broken Heart is described as "a captivating and whimsical new adventure, which will capture the hearts of readers old and new".
The synopsis reads: "When Evangeline Fox learns that the love of her life is about to marry another, she feels her heart begin to break in two. Desperate and distraught, she offers the charismatic but wicked Prince of Hearts whatever he wishes in exchange for his help to stop the wedding. His request: three kisses. At first, it seems simple enough, but Evangeline quickly learns that bargaining with a Fate is a dangerous game, and it could cost her far more than she intended. For the prince has plans for Evangeline, plans that will either end in the greatest happily ever after, or in the most exquisite tragedy..."
Garber said: "I am so thankful that Hodder and Stoughton has given all my books such an incredible home in the United Kingdom. It was an absolute delight to work with them on the Caraval series—Hodder excels at taking the magic from books and making it stretch beyond the pages. We’ve already had a wonderful time brainstorming how to bring even more magic into this new series, and I couldn’t be more thrilled about the things that their amazing team has come up with."
