Hodder Studio has scooped "a compelling and emotional" debut novel from Farah Cook.
Editorial director for fiction Sara Adams acquired world rights to Care For Me from Hannah Weatherill at Northbank Talent Management. The book will be published in e-book and audiobook on 30th September, followed by paperback publication on 21st October 2021.
The synopsis says: "When Amira takes her mother, Afrah, to Raveswood Lodge Care Home, set in the beautiful Scottish Highlands, she hopes it will be the right decision for both of them. She hopes it will keep them safe. But it isn’t long before Afrah is haunted by her past she has always wanted to forget, and she is sure someone is back for revenge. Now she must convince Amira of the truth, but first, Amira may need to discover the secrets of the past for herself."
Weatherill said: "I’m thrilled that Care for Me has found a home at Hodder Studio. Farah is an exceptional debut author; her prose is dripping with atmosphere and you can’t help but be drawn into Afrah and Amira’s story. I can’t wait for readers to discover it."
Cook added: "It’s been a true pleasure to work with Sara and the rest of the creative team at Hodder Studio. From the very beginning Sara and her team were professional and enthusiastic about publishing Care for Me, giving it the excellent attention it deserves."
Adams commented: "Care for Me is a story about the complexities of mother-daughter relationships, wrapped up in a plot that will keep you on the edge of your seat – we can’t wait to publish Farah’s wonderful debut, a novel full of heart and tension."
