Hodderscape has pre-empted a romantasy trilogy, Bloodguard, by nurse and author Cecy Robson as part of a joint publication with Entangled Publishing in the US.
Commissioning editor Natasha Qureshi acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Nicole Resciniti at The Seymour Agency, on behalf of Entangled Publishing in the US. Hodderscape will publish Bloodguard alongside Red Tower Books, an imprint of Entangled, in June 2024.
Bloodguard is described by Hodderscape as “the first book in a gripping trilogy full of epic battles and a forbidden romance between a human gladiator and a royal fae”. The publisher added: “These star-crossed lovers are forced to navigate a world of cruel fae, magical creatures, and dangerous court politics that continually conspire against them.”
Qureshi said: “I’ve been following the success of the Red Tower Books imprint for a while and truly felt that Bloodguard was the right fit for the Hodderscape list.
“I’m a huge fan of the romantasy genre and was gripped by the initial pages and knew Cecy had something special. I was swept into an unforgettable world of savage fae that perfectly set the arena for a high-stakes forbidden romance sure to shatter hearts across the UK.”
Robson said: “I’m honoured to partner with Natasha Qureshi and Hodderscape to bring the action-packed and heart-pounding power of Bloodguard to the UK.”
Robson is an international and award-winning author. An immigrant of El Salvador with Nahua Pipil Indigenous heritage, she has worked as a nurse for 22 years.
