Hodderscape has snapped up Shadowed Moonlight, a three-book urban fantasy series by K C Harper, and Til Death Do Us Bard, a two-book "cosy fantasy" series from Rose Black.
Commissioning editor Natasha Qureshi acquired world rights to Shadowed Moonlight from Helen Lane at The Booker Albert Literary Agency in a three-book deal and world rights to Til Death Do Us Bard from Rebecca Podos at the Rees Literary Agency in a two-book deal.
Shadowed Moonlight, to be published on 6th June 2024, is the first book in an urban fantasy trilogy "filled with danger, darkness, and an insatiable romance between a heartbroken witch and her werewolf ex-boyfriend who returns to town as the new alpha".
Harper said: "I am thrilled to be working with Natasha and the team at Hodderscape on Shadowed Moonlight. This is my absolute writer’s dream come true."
Meanwhile, set to release on 21st November 2023, Til Death Do Us Bard is described as "a sweet, queer, light fantasy, in which a grumpy ex-adventurer must come out of retirement to save the kingdom, and his sunshiny bard husband".
Black commented: "I am over the moon to be working with Natasha and Hodderscape to bring Bard to life. It’s an absolute dream to see my story about finding love and self-worth on the shelves, and I can’t wait!"
Qureshi added: "I am hugely excited to bring these two dream authors to Hodderscape, following my passion for urban fantasy and cosy, heartfelt novels. Shadowed Moonlight is the perfect binge read; I wanted something sexy and propulsive and K C delivered on every note.
"I’m a sucker for an enemies-to-lovers trope and Kane is my dream big, bad alpha boyfriend. While Til Death Do Us Bard was my comfort read – a queer love story about finding love well after the adventure has ended. These stories all have romance at their heart and are the types of new voices I want to keep championing here at Hodderscape."
Publishing director Molly Powell noted: "Hodderscape has a long-standing reputation for championing new, exciting voices in science fiction and fantasy. With these two brilliantly commercial new authors, the imprint continues pushing the boundaries of what readers can expect from the genre and allowing our fantasy community to guide us."
