Emma Matthewson, publishing director for Hot Key Books and Piccadilly Press, has acquired the world rights to a picture book for older readers on depression by Debi Gliori.
Night Shift depicts a typical nine-month cycle of depression. Gliori, drawing on her own experiences of depression, created the book using black and white illustrations and silver ink.
Matthewson, who struck the deal with Penny Holroyde of Holroyde Cartey, will publish the book under the Hot Key imprint.
She said: “I could not be more proud to be publishing this new book for older readers and adults from Debi Gliori. Debi’s stunning artwork combined with the deceptively simple text we hope will be a means for real help for those suffering from depression – as well as for those who know somebody who is or might be.”
